John Young
John Young has been a resident of Kootenai County since 1975, having spent the early years of his life in California where his Dad was involved in the Apollo project and then Flagstaff, Arizona, which was just a stepping-stone to beautiful North Idaho. John attended Lakeland School District and North Idaho College studying civil engineering with plans to go on to University of Idaho.
While going to school, John started working for Hagadone Construction Company in 1984. Finding an aptitude for construction, college plans were put on hold. John’s career has included tenure at Contractor’s Northwest and a later partnership with Larry Polin whom he bought out in 2005. The company was rebranded in 2014 as Young Construction Group.
John’s involvement in the construction industry spans more than 34 years and during that time he has been responsible for the majority of the pre-construction services provided to clients in the 25 plus years at Young Construction Group. Licensed as an Idaho State Public Works Construction Manager since 2001, John has provided constructability and construction assembly cost analysis, conceptual, design development, and progress drawing budget estimates and detailed schedule projections for a wide variety of public works and private sector projects.
John’s project experience includes healthcare, motor and recreational vehicle service and repair facilities, manufacturing and industrial facilities, public works, and masonry pre-engineered and structural steel framed buildings.
John is married to his wife Connie and together they have four children, Nick, Hailey, Maryssa and Christian. John and his family have been active members of Real Life Ministries since 2003.
